INTRODUCTION

The History

Established in 2002, the Institute of Marine Resources Management (IMRM) is the only institute focusing on marine affairs and resources management in Taiwan. The primary goal of the Institute is to strengthen marine resources management based on integrated natural science and social science researches. To incorporate multi-disciplinary features of marine affairs, the Institute has been renamed as “Institute of Marine Affairs and Resource Management” since 2007.

 

Features

The institute is the only Graduate institute focusing on marine affairs and resource management by integrated natural science and social science researches.  We are committed to maintain sustainable utilization of marine resources through better understanding of marine population, ecosystem dynamics, improved management decisions, and policy implementations.

 

Educational Goals

The Institute aims to provide professional training to graduate students who will be capable to assess marine and ecosystem dynamics as well as make qualitative management decisions related to marine affairs after graduation.  Thus, the Institute provides an excellent academic training opportunity for students seeking professional positions in marine affairs and resources management as well as perusing their doctorate studies.  To this end, the Institute offers coursework and training in quantitative analysis, economic analysis, policy and decision-making.
